It’s been 12 years since Matt Smith last appeared on Doctor Who, but he might be reuniting with some of his companions from the long-running sci-fi series for an exciting new spinoff project.
After playing the Eleventh Doctor, Smith worked on The Crown and House of the Dragon. He also appeared on the big screen in Terminator Genisys and Last Night in Soho, and can be seen next May in Star Wars: Starfighter. But in all these years, he’s never returned to Doctor Who, unlike other actors such as David Tennant.
While there are still no plans for Smith to reprise his role, he is in talks to participate in a related project. During an interview with Doctor Who Magazine, alums Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who played Amy Pond and Rory Williams, revealed (via Radio Times) that they’ve asked Smith to appear on their Doctor Who rewatch podcast, The Pondcast, which will be launching soon.
“We must get Matt Smith!” Gillan exclaimed. Darvill not only believes that their former Doctor Who co-star will stop by the podcast, but they’ve already “spoken to Matt about it.” It might just be a matter of working out the scheduling because Gillan added that “we just need to lock it down” after Smith “keeps saying he’s coming on.”
Karen Gillan: “We must get Matt Smith!”
Arthur Darvill: “We will get Matt, and we have spoken to Matt about it.”
Karen Gillan: “[Smith] keeps saying he’s coming on. We just need to lock it down.”
If Smith does take them up on their offer, the podcast episode will be recorded in person at Darvill’s house.
Alongside Smith’s Doctor, Gillan and Darvill starred on Doctor Who as companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams.
Another Doctor Who alum whom Darvill has spoken to about appearing on the podcast is Alex Kingston, who played Amy and Rory’s daughter, River Song. Darvill didn’t confirm whether Kingston has actually scheduled a guest appearance yet.
Arthur Darvill: “He said he’s up for it. [I have also] spoken to Alex Kingston about it.”
However, Steven Moffat, who was Doctor Who‘s showrunner from 2010 to 2017 when Smith and Peter Capaldi were on the show, will chat with Gillan and Darvill on The Pondcast.
Gillan and Darvill’s Doctor Who characters, Amy and Rory, were two of the Eleventh Doctor’s companions when Smith starred on the show. River, Clara Oswald and Sarah Jane Smith were other companions who crossed paths with Smith’s Doctor.
Smith replaced David Tennant and made his debut as the Eleventh Doctor during season 5 of the Doctor Who revival in 2010. The actor stayed in the role for three seasons, with Capaldi then taking over. Smith made an appearance in the Doctor Who season 8 premiere after the titular character regenerated.
In the years since then, Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa have played the Doctor, with Tennant returning in between them as the Fourteenth Doctor for three specials that aired in 2023.
Gillan and Darvill have yet to lock down an interview with their former Doctor Who co-star. The hope is that Smith can make an appearance soon since he is expected to be filming House of the Dragon season 4 next year for a likely 2028 premiere.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
