The X-Men are currently the focus of Marvel Studios’ 2026 slate, and with a new release came the perfect Magneto replacement, and it teaches a lesson that I hope the Marvel Cinematic Universe will learn. Magneto is one of Marvel’s most powerful characters. While he has largely been depicted as a villain, the Master of Magnetism is actually a pretty complex individual.
Magneto is not really evil, but a multi-layered character who endured one of the worst periods in human history and tries his hardest to protect all mutants from having to go through something like that. In addition to that tragic backstory and nuanced goal, Magneto has the power of controlling metal, magnetic fields, flight, and much more, making him an Omega-level mutant.
Based on all of those factors, replacing him is not easy. Sure, there are other powerful X-Men and mutants with dark pasts. However, striking the perfect balance between those is quite hard, and Magneto comes out as a unique Marvel creation. That said, there is a mutant who appears on Marvel’s slate of projects this year that has shown how Magneto’s perfect replacement is clear.
X-Men ’97 season 2 is currently airing new episodes weekly. The animated Marvel series exists within its own universe, not being part of the MCU. That said, the Marvel Studios show sets up the perfect path for the live-action franchise to follow related to Magneto and his perfect replacement/successor. This week’s episode of the hit show explained that.
Polaris Is Magneto’s Perfect Replacement In X-Men ’97 Season 2
Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for X-Men ’97 season 2, episode 6.Sadly, Magneto is gone in X-Men ’97 season 2. The Master of Magnetism was killed earlier this season by Apocalypse. The X-Men and mutants in general are still mourning the character’s death, dealing with the hurt and trying to heal from it. That is a core element of X-Men ’97 season 2, episode 6, “Danger.exe.” As Charles Xavier re-lives Magneto’s death over and over again in the X-Mansion’s Danger Room, he ends up making the facility’s AI adapt to a world without Magneto, which subsequently leads to it taking on the physical form of Danger, an intelligent and powerful robot.
While the X-Men fight Danger head on, they are only able to stop her with Polaris’ help. Lorna Dane is Magneto’s daughter, and they have a complicated relationship, as she makes sure to note multiple times in episode 6. However, the only way the mutants manage to succeed is when Charles gets Polaris to fully embrace what Magneto meant to mutants, taking in all the good instead of just the bad, and this allows her to bring her power over magnetism to the highest level, destroying Danger. In the end, Polaris is a more good-natured version of her father, Magneto.
The MCU’s X-Men Reboot Needs To Introduce Polaris
Throughout the episode, the show kept coming up with ways to point out that Polaris was Magneto’s replacement, and after fearing a life in his shadow, Polaris’ full power came out from accepting her father’s legacy. The Marvel series’ latest episode just goes to show how rich a character Polaris is, which is why the MCU absolutely needs to bring her in for its next saga.
We know that the MCU X-Men movie reboot is in development, and that 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars will serve as a partial reboot to the franchise to make sure the X-Men and the other characters all live on the same Earth. As such, Marvel Studios could finally have all of Magneto’s children together in live-action. You cast Polaris and put her with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, a resurrected Aaron Taylor-Johnson Quicksilver, and you get all of Magneto’s main kids in the MCU for years of X-Men stories.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
