Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Dark Knights of Steel II #4
Without a doubt, The Lord of the Rings franchise remains one of the defining fantasy epics of all time, and DC Comics’ fascinating Dark Knights of Steel alt-universe has clearly taken some key inspirations from J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic narratives. This is particularly true for one of its most important characters, who looks ready to become a solid parallel to Aragorn, son of Arathorn.
In The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn’s transformation from a wandering Ranger to the rightful ruler of Gondor is all kinds of epic, eventually embracing his destiny and true self as the race of men’s next king. In DC’s ongoing Dark Knights of Steel II series from Tom Taylor and Otto Schmidt, the epic saga of this medieval fantasy version of the DC Universe continues, introducing dark new plots as the alliance between the Kingdoms of Storm, El, and Amazonia is threatened thanks to General Amanda Waller and her efforts to claim the Throne of El as its regent (having secretly poisoned Queen Lara-El and her children Kal and Zala).
With the Kingdom of El in such desperate need, there’s really only one hero capable of restoring order, who’s seemingly now ready to claim the throne that was always meant to be his, thereby mirroring Aragorn’s journey quite well: Batman.
Batman Has Become The Aragorn Of Dark Knights of Steel II
In the first Dark Knights of Steel series, Bruce Wayne’s backstory very much made him a solid counterpart to Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow. After all, he was eventually revealed to be the secret bastard son of Martha Wayne and Jor-El, making him Kal-El and Zala’s half-brother. Seeing as how the Els took over the kingdom from his King Thomas Wayne and Queen Martha after their deaths, Bruce does have a claim to the throne, much like Jon Snow was eventually revealed to be the true heir to the Iron Throne.
However, Bruce was still struggling with his identity and ultimately refused the throne, choosing instead to leave the Kingdom of El in order to figure out who he truly was, facing threats beyond the kingdom’s borders and even finding new romance with Talia al Ghul. This is where things started becoming more Lord of the Rings and Aragorn-coded in Dark Knights of Steel II.
Like the future king of Gondor, Bruce similarly spent time away from his rightful place, avoiding the destiny of his lineage. However, with Amanda Waller now taking advantage of various crises and seeking to establish herself as regent, Batman has finally returned to the Kingdom of El in the new Dark Knights of Steel II #4. As John Constantine says to Bruce in this issue, “Ready or not, your kingdom needs a king.”
While there are still more battles to come as Dark Knights of Steel II continues, it’s very cool to see this new status quo for Bruce Wayne where he’s finally ready to embrace all he is and his claim to the throne his parents once ruled. By all accounts, it very much feels like the beginnings of Batman’s very own Return of the King arc. As such, it’s going to be very exciting to see what DC has in store in the issues to come.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
